EBEX completed its first flight, a test flight, over the American Southwest. It flew between 110,000 and 120,000 feet for over 10 hours, and the major goals of the flight were achieved.

On a lighter note, EBEX stirred up some interesting news reports as it flew over populated areas of New Mexico and Arizona. Arizonians became particulary concerned about the unidentified flying object when the sun set, as EBEX's 36 million cubic-foot balloon diffused sunlight against the flat canvas of a dark sky.
